Werewolves, since the dawn of time, have always been at war with the vampires wishing to rid this world of the parasitic creatures of the night that feed from their own kind, and their loved ones that try so hard to thrive on this planet.
Since the beginning, their sole purpose is to protect the humans, and the other mortals of this world — or even divine beings (such as angels and/or faeries).
Unfortunately, the war between the three major factions have been decreasing them in numbers, losing the war [currently].
This faction is a pure "good" faction, having no evil intentions; only in need of eradicating the vampires or any other beings like them, such as the dhampires and demons.
Vampires only see the lycans as vermin, and are lower even more so than dogs.
Lycan blood can be toxic to a vampire if one were to try and feed off one, since they were created to protect the humans of the world - by Fenrir - this was to give the faction some form of protection from the vampires, since the vampires often use their fangs to kill.
A werewolf can shift at any given time they wish, though on the night of the full moon, some packs transform against their own will into their wolfen form, while other packs do not. Just like the vampires, some packs have more diluted blood than others.
Selene, the Moon Goddess, knew about the creation of the lycans to eliminate her children, and thus had made it so on the night of the full moon when her children would be most powerful, the strongest bloodline of the lycans will weaken tremendously.
However, Fenrir thought ahead, knowing his enemy well. So instead, on the nights of the New Moon when the vampires would be at their weakest when Selene was not present, then that is when the Lycans will be at their most powerful. So, at least the lycans do have one night to where they have an advantage over their nemesis for one night.
Just like vampires being weak to garlic and the sunlight, the lycans/werewolves have weakness that are a bit odd as well. Such as salt. Yup, salt. Lycans hate salt. It is unknown as to why...not that it is a major weakness, as it will just irritate a lycan and are highly allergic to the substance. It is a great way to find out if someone is a lycan or not when in human form.
However, a more potent weapon against the lycans would be Mercury. Just as vampires are weak to silver, it is mercury for the lycans. Mercury will give the lycans the same weaknesses as silver does to a vampire.

Positions Available
-
Head Role — The head role of the Lycans will be that similar to Cain of the vampires. The head Lycan will be the leader of all packs within the world, and will have the same blood as Fenrir. This lycan in particular will be the strongest, yet the curse will affect him/her the greatest; such as having to transform into his/her wolfen self on the night of the Full Moon and have a great weakness to vampires (such as being scratched, bitten, glamoured, etc).
-
Secondary Roles — these include a werewolf pack being in charge of specific areas (such as a state within the US, or prefecture in Japan, etc of your choice anywhere in the world). However, these werewolves may only be head of werewolf bloodlines as well, and are only allowed to be “elder” werewolves - no “pup” werewolves are allowed to take a leadership role.
-
Non-leadership roles — Simply the lower class werewolves such as betas.
-
Rogue Roles — Of course, some werewolves may not wish to side with the rest of the faction, and may even go as far as to betray their own kind. You would then be considered a ‘rogue’ werewolf/lycan

Becoming a Lycanthrope
Though most lycans/werewolves are born as such, it is possible to be turned into one of these beasts. Though, the process is entirely different than that as vampires.
To become a lycanthrope, there is a ceremony involved. This involves music, a feast, and then at the very end of the rather fun ceremony [on a night of the New Moon, Selene may not be present during this time], then a mortal must drink a full chalice of Lupin blood of the pack leader he or she wishes to join, and to show their devotion — entirely optional — kill a vampire or dhampir.
Fun, right?
