There was a young adventurer named Ambrogio whom was born and raised in Italy many years ago…

This young man yearned to to have his fortune told by Delphi in the city of Greece as he was growing up, dreaming of some sort of excitement to experience in his life. As he grew up and got older, Ambrogio was eventually able to leave Italy by boat and travel to Astakos, a city  on the edge of Greece fulfilling his simple dream.

In the city of Greece, Delphi was home to a great temple of Apollo the Sun God. It was also home of the Pythia, better known as the Oracles.

Within a chamber of the temple, the Pythia would sit and speak of prophecies inspired by the Sun God to those that would seek the Oracle's wisdom.

When Ambrogio finally arrived at the temple of Apollo to find Delphi in order to have his fortune be told as he had long wished for, the young man was a little muddled when the Pythia, whom would more than often speak cryptic, had said...

“The curse. The moon. The blood will run.”

Of course, with such words having been said to him, left the young man troubled that same night, a dreadful insomnia took over leaving him restless and unable to sleep pondering over what those words would have meant for him.

As dawn arrived leaving the morning dew on the grass with a refreshing gelid in the air, Ambrogio had decided to distract himself with a walk around the beautiful city of Greece.

That was, until he had found a prepossessing woman dressed in robes of ivory walking up to the temple. Stricken with awe at her beauty, Ambrogio mustered up the courage to introduce himself to her, wishing to catch her attention.

It was later found out that this woman was a maiden of the temple of Apollo, as she later introduced herself revealing that her name was Selene. The Oracle was her sister, and while in her beguiled state she tended to the temple in order to take care of her sister.

For the next few days, Ambrogio and Selene would meet up at the entrance of the temple every dawn...over time the two had fallen in love with each other…

However, Ambrogio’s time in Greece was coming to an end, and finally on the last day for his vacation there in Astakos, the young male had decided to at last ask Selene to marry him and make yet another dream come true for her to return to Italy with him to live happily together. Selene had agreed, accepting his offer, as he promised for one last meeting at dawn in front of the temple.

However...Apollo had been watching the two interact over the past weeks, but the Sun God himself had been stricken with love for Selene, the maiden of the temple. The God became enraged at the thought of Ambrogio simply taking one of his maidens away from his temple. At sunset that later night, Apollo appeared before Ambrogio, cursing him to never walk under his light of the sun...saying that sunlight would forever burn Ambrogio’s skin.

Making it impossible for Ambrogio to meet up with Selene as promised at dawn the next morning…

This had made the young male distraught, knowing that he would not be able to leave with Selene at dawn due to the curse by Apollo. Ambrogio sat alone with his thoughts for hours until he later decided, since he had nowhere else to go or anyone else to turn to, to leave for the very cave that had led to Hades for some kind of protection.

Hearing the pleas of Ambrogio, Plutous formed a deal with the young male saying that if he could steal the Silver Bow of Artemis and bring it back to him, he would permit protection in Hades for him and Selene. To make the job somewhat easier for Ambrogio, Plutous had given the young male a wooden bow and eleven arrows so that he may hunt. This was because Artemis is the is the Goddess of The Hunt (along with Chastity and Virginity), and he was to offer his hunting trophies to her in order to over time gain her favor.

However, as one knows the ways of the Underworld, Plutous kept Ambrogio’s soul as collateral in case he was not able to fulfill the agreement; the only possible way to receive his soul back was to bring back the Silver Bow to Hades. If he could not return with the bow, his soul would forever be trapped in Hades with Plutous and Parthénos [ï¹–]. He would never be able to return to his beloved, Selene.

Ambrogio had no way to get in contact with Selene  other than having the bow and some parchment...however no ink to write with. So, in order to communicate with the woman he loves, Ambrogio would kill a swan, using a feather to write with, the blood being the ink. Using the parchment he had on his person, Ambrogio wrote letters to Selene saying that he could not meet up with her at dawn for specific reasons untold for now, but he would find a way to eventually find a way for them to see each other and to finally be together once again. Every night, the young male would leave a note for his beloved before hiding away from the sunlight, as she would find the notes every dawn where the two used to meet up at in front of the temple.

Not wanting to anger the Sun God any further, Selene continued to work at the temple despite knowing the troubles of her beloved, becoming distraught and concerned for Ambrogio.

The next dawn, Selene had seen that Ambrogio was yet again not there...but a note instead just as  promised. This time, the note was a poem left for her.

Ambrogio continued this for 44 nights, slaying swans in order to leave notes for Selene in front of the temple of Apollo; draining the blood and taking a single feather as offerings to Artemis. Ambrogio has figured that if perhaps even if he could not steal her bow, he could somehow win her favor with these offerings and become honored by his tribute, in hopes that she could hopefully convince her brother, Apollo, to remove the curse upon him.

However, on the 45th night, Ambrogio had merely one arrow left to hunt with...as he shot at a swan and completely missed…

This left the young male distressed, knowing he did not have either the blood of the swan to write with nor the swan to sacrifice to Artemis to gain her favor. He soon fell to the ground, weeping with sorrow believing he had failed Selene and Plutous.

Fortunately, Artemis had acknowledged Ambrogio, seeing that he was very dedicated to her and hunting, and so she had came down to him. Seeing this as an opportunity and with desperation, Ambrogio had begged Artemis to borrow her Silver Bow so that he may at least leave one last note for Selene. Taking pity on the young male, Artemis accepted the plea, lending Ambrogio the bow for his request.

In anguish and desperation, Ambrogio ran for the cave to Hades so that he may take the Silver Bow to Plutous just as asked, simply so he could have protection against the sun and so he may be with Selene…

However, Artemis quickly realized what Ambrogio was doing, deciding to cast her very own curse upon Ambrogio; this curse would cause all silver to burn his skin just as the sun. Due to this tormenting curse, the Silver Bow had begun to burn away at his hands, making  him drop the bow in agony.

He was now unable to take the bow to Hades…

Ambrogio begged Artemis for forgiveness despite having tried to steal her Silver Bow, explaining the deal Plutous had forced him into for protection, the curse put upon him by Apollo and his love for Selene.

Artemis had once again took pity on the young male seeing he really had no other choice, and told him she’d make him into a great hunter, as great as her.

He would have the strength and speed of a God and sharp fangs so he may drain the blood of beasts at his own leisure to write to Selene all he wanted. However, in exchange for his immortality he would have to agree to another deal. Which was...they would have to escape Apollo’s temple and worship herself, Artemis, forever.

The catch? Artemis is the Goddess of Virginity and Chastity, and her followers had to be as such. Selene and Ambrogio would never even be allowed to touch each other, never kiss...never have children.

Ambrogio, of course, agreed. At least in this way, he and Selene could be together. He was finally  able to slay another swan with his newly found abilities of a great hunter, leaving one final note for Selene at the entrance of the temple. The note explained to meet him on the ship at the docks by nightfall with no other explanation than that. Selene had fled the temple that night in hopes that Apollo would not notice.

Selene had arrived at Ambrogio’s ship that night and met him down in the hull. However, all there was just a coffin with another note written on it, telling Selene to leave the coffin alone and to order the captain to set sail and to only open the coffin after the sun had set. Doing just as told Selene agreed not questioning anything Ambrogio had written.

After the sun had set, Selene made her way to the hull to find the coffin once again, opening it to see Ambrogio alive and well much to her surprise, the two finally happy to see each other once again.

The two lovers set sail to Ephesus, where they would live in a cave during the day and worshiped Artemis during the night in her grand temple, living happily for many years, never touching one another.

However, since Ambrogio had immortality, he stayed young as Selene had grown older over the years and eventually became ill leaving her on her deathbed. But...Ambrogio’s soul was still trapped within Hades forever, and once Selene would pass away he knew that they would not be able to reunite in the afterlife, leaving him once again distraught.

That night, Ambrogio killed another swan to offer to Artemis, asking her to make Selene immortal like himself so they could be together forever.

Thankfully, due to his dedication and worship over the many years, Artemis was in his favor and made him one final deal. She told him…

“You may touch Selene just this once...but what you must do is drink her blood. Doing so will kill her mortal body, but from then on her blood mixed with yours will create eternal life and for any other that will drink of it. If you do this, I’ll see to it that you two will stay together for eternity.”

Ambrogio was unsettled by the deal and almost wanted to refuse, but after telling Selene Artemis’s offer, she nearly begged so that they could be together. This convinced Ambrogio, as he took his beloved into his arms, embracing her for the very first time in their lives before he sank his fangs into her delicate neck, draining her blood and mixing it with his; taking her body into his.

Her body became limp, before her mortal body had finally died, Selene became vibrant with light as her body began to rise up to the moon above in the clear sky. Ambrogio watched as his beloved’s glowing spirit lifted up to meet with Artemis at the moon; when she arrived, the moon lit up with a brilliant light.

That night, Selene became the Goddess of Moonlight, and every night her light could touch her beloved Ambrogio as well as all her children — the newly created vampires that would roam the Earth that carried her and Ambrogio’s mixed blood, together (specifically).

"The curse.
The moon.
The blood will run."
